The year 2023 will see the G7 Summit being held in Hiroshima, attracting attention from around the world.
On that occasion, the Republic of India participated as an invited country and attracted a great deal of attention as a representative of the Global South.
During the summit, on May 20th, a statue of Gandhi was unveiled in the green space on the left bank of the Motoyasu River, with Prime Minister Modi in attendance, making the area a place that spreads the idea of non-violence.
In addition, Hiroshima Prefecture will re-sign an economic exchange agreement with the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu on November 30, 2023, and will deepen ties with India, which is experiencing rapid economic growth. India has the world’s largest population and is attracting attention from all over the world for its abundant human resources, especially highly skilled personnel in the IT sector.
In this context, we have established the Hiroshima Japan-India Association, which will serve as a foundation for exchanges with India, to promote personal and cultural exchanges, peace activities, and further economic exchanges and investment activities, thereby contributing to the development of friendship between the two countries.
